Until recently the Long Rock Memorial Institute was run by a group of Trustees, volunteers from the local community. The building has been in place for many years and has recently declined to the extent that it is not currently in a suitable condition for use by local groups.

The parish council are taking on the responsibility for the hall. The hall is registered with the Charity Commission, and as it is a charity, the council has been appointed the sole managing trustee of the charity. When the council meets to make decisions about the running of the Long Rock Memorial Institute, it will be meeting as the corporate trustee of the charity, not as a local authority.
