A30 Canon’s Town drainage works this weekend 8 & 15 March 2021

the parish council has received this update from Highways England:

A30 Canon’s Town emergency drainage works
Highways England operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A
roads. This letter is to let you know about works at the above location.
The works
Further works are need on the A30 at Canon’s Town to mitigate the ongoing flooding
during periods of heavy rainfall. A larger capacity drainage pipe will be installed from
one side of the A30 to the outfall on the other side. Due to the complexity of routing this
new pipe through existing buried services, the works are expected to take a few days.
To reduce the impact on traffic we will carry out this work over two consecutive
weekends, and before the current national lockdown is lifted.
Please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenince this may cause, we’ll make
every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to
a minimum.
Dates
6am Saturday 6 March to 6am Monday 8 March 2020
6am Saturday 13 March to 6am Monday 15 March 2020
Hours of work – 24 hours, noisy work will be carried out before 11pm where possible
Traffic management
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A30, Arch Lane and Heather Lane for the
safety of our workforce. Traffic lights will remain in place for the duration of works on the
dates above. Traffic management will be removed Monday to Friday and the roads will
be open as usual.
COVID-19
Please be assured we have strict safeguarding measures on site to prevent the spread
of COVID-19 and will be closely monitoring the ongoing situation. We will continue to
follow all the latest government advice and will adapt our plans to take account of any
changes, keeping our workforce and road users safe.
